Alternative medicine - Quackwatch
There is really no such thing as "Alternative Medicine". There are simply things that work, things that don't, and things that await proper testing. Many well-meaning friends and relatives will have favourite remedies and cancer theories to share with you. Many of these are simply untrue. Some are dangerous. Most are driven by those whose sole interest is to make money from people who are desperate. If there was a simple solution for cancer the world would beat a path to the proponents.
Oncologists do not have a vested interest in keeping valuable treatment information away from our patients.
One very useful website for finding out if one of these proposed treatments is genuine or not is this one. It is highly informative, regularly updated and very accurate. I strongly recommend it to you. Should your answer not be there, please ask me at your next consultation and I will research it for you.

Cancer Information from Memorial Sloan Kettering
This is the cancer information site for the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre. This Centre, located in New York, is one of the leading cancer treatment hospitals in the United States. Many Australian oncologists have trained there. Generally speaking, the information offered here is reliable and impartial. However, there is some bias towards the particular clinical research programs which are being conducted at this institution, and, like all institutional websites, the information has been vetted by committee and therefore is perhaps a little "politically correct".
Cancer Institute of NSW

Fantastically helpful books by Domini Stuart

In her other book, "Staying Well for Life", she has some excellent advice about how to manage weight reduction and healthy living despite leading a very busy professional life. I thoroughly recommend these books and many of our patients have found them hugely helpful. You can order them through Domini's website.
